studio FM milano // founded by Barbara Forni and Sergio Menichelli in 1996 and joined by Cristiano Bottino in 2000, specializes in graphic design, specifically art direction, corporate identity, books, exhibit/installation design and web design. Studio FM projects have received several awards and have been published on various occasions.
Barbara Forni // After graduation from the High School of Art, she studied painting at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. She studied graphic design at Milan’s Scuola Politecnica di Design and worked in graphic design and illustration for several years at Sottsass Associates Studio. In 1996 she founded the Studio FM Milano alongside Sergio Menichelli. She led a Laboratory in visual communications at Politecnico di Milano Faculty (2003/04). Her works have been exhibited in several occasions: Santa Maria ad Nives Rimini, Without Net - 15 young artists on view; Galleria Jannone Milano, Handle With Care – a decorated glass collection for Egizia; Museo Pecci Prato; The Studio Sottsass Associati projects, Attack to the Heart - Festival di Musica, Letteratura e Arti Visive – Rimini. Cristiano Bottino // After graduating from the First Art High School of Rome, he studied Fine Arts, Architecture and Environmental design at the Parsons School of Design, New York and photography at the New School for Social Research. He worked as an architect in New York, where he lived for five years and, in Italy, as a stage set designer with Franco Zeffirelli and Edoardo Sanchi at the Arena of Verona and the Rome Opera Theatre.In 1999 he began working at studio FM milano and became a partner in 2000. He teaches visual communication at the Politecnico di Milano and, from 2004, he has taught on the Master’s program of Milan’s Scuola Politecnica di Design. In 2007 he has taught visual communication workshops to foreign exchange students at Naba Art’s and Design Academy, Milano. He is the Art Director of the magazine Riders since its birth in 2007. Sergio Menichelli // Studied graphic design at Monza’s Institute of Art and Urbino’s ISIA as well as Riccardo Bauer’s photography school in Milan. He has worked in several design studios, amongst them: Studio Lissoni, Sottsass Associati, Centro Ricerche Domus Academy, Studio De Lucchi. In 1996 he founded studio FM milano along with Barbara Forni. From 2001 to 2006 he taught visual communication at the Politecnico di Milano, since 2007 he has taught visual communcation at San Marino’s IUAV and since 2008 at Urbino’s ISIA. |
